Pictures of Upstate New York in October. B & W Fall leaves.

I don’t pretend to know anything about photography.  I just like taking photos.

Every day I see things that are beautiful, interesting, odd, or just pleasing to the eye, and a photograph lets me enjoy it again, and share it with other people.  I’m working on learning more about photography, but have a long, long way to go.  It’s pretty addictive!

A friend of mine tells me that most photographers really hate the “focal B&W” thing, like leaving a single red leaf in a B&W shot.

It probably can get annoying very quickly, but I’m kind of having fun with it.  #phillistine

For me, one of the best things about exploring WordPress, has been connecting to some really outstanding photo blogs, which has in turn inspired me to start learning more about photography, cameras, and photo-editing.

  1. I’ve spent quite a bit of time in upstate NY in my youth and always found it to be like another world – they should split from the rest of the state!! It’s too beautiful to be called NY!!!!!

  2. Oh, phooey on photographers and their “rules.” I happen to think both of those images with the single colored leaf are fabulous. I enjoy that style, and you’ve carried it off well. I suppose too many in a row might be a bit much, but I’m not sure what “too many” would be. A hundred? Two hundred? Might be.

  3. I like the middle leaf picture best, (the one where the leaf’s brown). I don’t know anything about photography or the visual arts, though, so treat my opinion with extreme caution.

    • Mr. K., even if you’re not qualified, I’ll take that as a qualified compliment.
It turns out, that particular leaf was one of the 60,000 you recently said goodbye to – – I was worried it was despondent, the fall from the tree didn’t do the job, so I carried it the rest of the way off the bridge. And actually, the leaves were greener on the other side.
